And not so surprising, the 2019 season looks a lot like 2018. They've played in the last four National Championship Games, going 2-2 in those games.

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is on top of the football world after he led the second-ranked Tigers to a 44-16 win over the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday in the national championship game.

Clemson is the first opponent to beat the Tide by more than 14 points since Saban became coach in 2007.

It began nearly immediately as Terrell stepped in front of Tagovailoa's throw and ran untouched into the end zone to put Alabama on its heels, down 7-0.

Alabama will be back, but Clemson will nearly certainly be there waiting for them. Backup defensive tackle Nyles Pinckney stuffed Alabama holder Mac Jones on a fake field goal try that ended far short of its goal. He finished with 86 yards on 14 carries.

Hurts threw two incomplete passes and was dragged down behind the line of scrimmage for a 4-yard loss in relief of Tagovailoa.

Lawrence, a freshman, was supposed to be rattled by Alabama's fearsome defensive front. He was named the offensive player of the game.
