Now, it has reportedly caused a auto crash.

At 4:50 p.m. Monday, a 17-year-old girl was driving a gray truck east along Layton Parkway when she pulled her beanie over her eyes to attempt the "Bird Box" Challenge, Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman said.

The "Bird Box Challenge" is when those who play attempt to perform normal tasks while blindfolded, as some of the characters must do in the movie. "This happened on Monday as a result of the driver covering her eyes while driving on Layton Parkway".

This viral challenge mirrors the premise of the Sandra Bullock-led horror that sees survivors utilize blindfolds to navigate a post-apocalyptic hellscape, lest they spot a malevolent force that turns its victims suicidal.

The driver veered into oncoming traffic and struck a passenger vehicle.

During the 20 minutes Jayme was in their home, Peter and Kristin Kasinskas said they tried to make her feel more comfortable. I mean, how she got out, we don't know that yet, you know, it wasn't just on her own. "I'm going to hug her.

"Honestly, I'm nearly embarrassed to have to say "Don't drive with your eyes covered", but you know apparently we do have to say that".

Police are reportedly weighing reckless driving charges against the teen. Driving is one of the most inherently risky things we do, and this kind of willful disregard for the safety of others should be grounds for an immediate and long-lasting suspension, just like a DUI.

Despite warnings from Netflix and just general common sense, it looks like people are still participating in that stupid Bird Box Challenge.

The social media challenge has gone viral, prompting Netflix to issue a warning to viewers on Twitter.

Amazingly, no one was injured-though this story could have had a much darker tone had she struck the innocent driver head-on.
