Frozen Cat Thawed out After Being Found Unresponsive in Montana Snow Bank

Fluffy's owners plan to keep her indoors from now on, ABC News reports. Typically, cats have temperatures around 101 degrees.

Fluffy was found by her owner in a snowbank while temperatures hovered around -13°C.

Jevon Clark, a veterinarian at the clinic, said he was shocked when he first saw the cat, noting that her body temperature was so low it didn't even produce a reading on their thermometer.

A vet says Fluffy's body temperature was so low - it was hard to get an IV into her. "Her temperature was very low but after many hours she recovered and is now completely normal", the post read.

"These crabby cats are survivors", Clark said.

They also posted a picture of Fluffy, now unfrozen, showcasing her long, elegant fur.

The polar vortex was raging in the Upper Midwest last week, and temperatures had dropped below zero on the morning of January 31 in the city of Kalispell, Mont., near Glacier National Park. The 3-year-old cat had mostly stayed outside before, but now she's staying inside - where it's nice and warm. Looking at the photo of what she looked like when she arrived at the local vet in Kalispell, I mean that is one frozen meow.

The furball has always lived outdoors - so the doctor suspects something happened to her to curl up in the position she was frozen in.

The owners did not want to be identified.

She had to be thawed out after getting buried in the snow.

"I suspect that something traumatic happened", Clark said.
