Spurs' Kane to step up EPL ankle recovery

Kane is likely to be out until March after damaging left ankle ligaments against Manchester United at Wembley on January 13, but has gone to the United States to recover.

He was ruled out by his club until March, but, after undergoing a spell of warm weather training, Kane is hoping to be back sooner than expected.

'I think it's a big boost for him and well deserved, ' Pochettino told Sky Sports.

"He is showing on social media that he looks very strong and very fit and very well, running and doing some exercises". I am just trying to stay as positive as possible.

"We need to assess it, but we are happy in the way that he is recovering". "Hopefully I will be back as soon as possible".

"You know him, Harry would want to play tomorrow". I never put a time on any of my injuries.

However, one of them, high profile Hollywood director, Ava DuVernay , will not be one of them. "I got to sacrifice a lot of money to perform".

Kane is joined on the sidelines by another high-profile injury victim Dele Alli and they, along with Ben Davies, will miss Saturday's visit of Newcastle.

Spurs failed to bring in a single player in January - the second window in succession in which they have opted not to strengthen their squad - despite still being in the Champions League as well as fighting for a top-four place in the Premier League.

"I am disappointed because we are in a very good position and maybe, with a little more help, we could not have an excuse not to be a real contender".

Spurs have Premier League wins over Watford, Fulham, and Newcastle in Kane's absence, plus an FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace and a penalty defeat to Chelsea in the semifinals of the League Cup. A lot can happen and there are a lot of games to play.

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has praised the mentality of his team mates after his side won their third league game in a row last time out against Newcastle.
