Summer Evening on Spa Creek, Annapolis

Maria Marino delivers the vivid hues of her working day-time landscapes into the night time with her pastel nocturnes. See a lot more of her work (both equally working day and night) in our Voices of Knowledge report. We have requested some of our preferred artists to exhibit us examples of their night time paintings and to convey to us a very little bit about their processes in this series of Nocturne Notes.
Marino shared with us these two examples of her exuberant, expressive pastel nocturne paintings. She informed us that her goal is in “catching the secret of that unique time of night”

“In the stop, it is about acquiring the viewer to feel
relatively than to comprehend, to take a look at alternatively than to analyze,
and to appreciate it instead than to move it by.”
In our fascination with how the eye sees and then interprets the world all over us to our brains, we have located it significantly appealing to study how the eye sees at evening. Lookup for the words “Nocturnes” and “Vision” in the look for bar to read through numerous exciting article content about the science of viewing at night time and the art of painting at night, or, obtain our e book, Nocturnes – A Primer on Night Painting.
